Root-zone review
The visible stump and flare roots establish the starting scope, but they do not reveal every root below the surface. For the Arcadia site, mark the intended grinding boundary and identify known irrigation, lighting, drainage, edging, paving, utilities, or planting areas near it. Explain what the space must support afterward so the professional can distinguish roots that should be addressed with the stump from roots that extend beyond a practical or safe grinding zone. Ask the proposal to list included surface roots, excluded areas, and the method for handling an unexpected obstruction. Remaining roots may decay and settle over time, but their behavior should not be predicted from a species assumption. Do not request broad root chasing simply to make the area look clear. Before expanding the scope, consider the effect on nearby surfaces and confirm that known buried features have been located and protected.
